Texas currently has legislation that “In Texas, no governmental entity may enter into a contract worth $100,000 or more unless it includes a “written verification” that the contracting entity “does not boycott Israel” and “will not boycott Israel during the term of the contract.” TEX. Gov’T CODE § 2271.002. A “governmental entity” includes a political subdivision, like the City of San Marcos. Id. §§ 2251.001(3), 2271.001(3). And to “boycott Israel” means “refusing to deal with, terminating business activities with, or otherwise taking any action that is intended to penalize, inflict economic harm on, or limit commercial relations specifically with Israel …” Id. §§ 808.001(1), 2271.001(I).” Per Governer of Texas Greg Abbot in a tweet in relation to a resolution voted on in may of 2025 when the San Marcos City Council voted on a resolution to stop sending “$4,434,675 [that] came from San Marcos residents’ taxes” to Israel.
It is abundantly clear that our elected officials at the capitol support the current administration in the state of Israel and will not allow the elected officials in our local communities to carry out the promises that got them elected in the first place. If the people in office do not support their constituents then the officials are corrupt and must be dismissed and the people must institute those who are actually representative of their community.
In the classroom at the beginning of each school day in public school, the Texas pledge of allegiance is said over the PA system. Within our pledge we are reminded that in our foundation we are “one nation, under God. Indivisible. With liberty, and justice for all.” Those of us who said it and understand what that means, know that supporting an administration that engages in unprovoked armed conflict with their neighbors are not serving God nor the people they govern. That administration is furthering their own reach and using their people to fight for them. As a native Texan I can confidently intercede for my brother and sister that we do not support the monumental loss of life that the current administration of Israel has inflicted upon nations.
If those in our own administration support this armed conflict that means they support it in their own land, as we already know our capital does not support its local authorities. Too many of our leaders hold a narrative that the continuing support of Israel because it is supported in biblical scripture. Even if you do not believe in the Bible this is not true. Matthew 21:43 “Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits.” Jesus is saying this to the religious leaders in control of the country at the time who later created the nation of Israel in 1948.
We the people do not support the ongoing conflict and violence and will in force correct the trajectory of our great state. Mass publication of supporting information will insue to inform the public of the treasonous actions our elected officials are committing. New candidates for office will make their way into the public eye and their positions are supported by the people. We are one nation, under God. Indivisible. With liberty and justice for all. And we will fight for that declaration until it is achieved. In it’s entirety.
